Highlights From My Journey

I’ll admit, I was skeptical. As someone with a strong science background, the idea of “processing stress out of the body” through movement sounded vague. But I stayed open. I tuned into the “8 Reasons Why We Do Physical Drills”—especially:
Functional Movement & Spine Health
Facilitating Mindfulness
Changing the Perception of Stress
Unlocking Stress & Trauma
Months before training, I developed persistent hip pain. Massage helped temporarily, and I tried “yoga for men” to release tension, but nothing stuck. On Day Three, sitting in lecture, I realized: the pain was gone.
That was my turning point.
YFFR helped me connect the dots. Stress and trauma aren’t just mental—they live in our bodies, in tight fascia and muscular tension, even at the cellular level. Through the structured physical drills and breathwork, I wasn’t just stretching—I was training my nervous system to regulate under pressure.
When we changed the language during drills—from “threat” to “challenge”—we rewired our perception. That’s neuroplasticity in action. My body responded. My hip pain? A result of stored stress. The relief? A result of targeted, intentional movement and breath.
I came to YFFR to gain tools to help others. But what I didn’t expect was how deeply it would impact me. The YFFR protocol gave me something I didn’t know I needed: a way to take care of myself—mind, body, and spirit.
We must let go of the “superhero” mindset and embrace our own humanity. We can’t help others unless we’re taking care of ourselves.
