Obstacles in your path?

Michael Zweigart | NOV 3, 2025

"The obstacles on our path are merely a means to self-discovery, and more often than not, lead us to unlocking our greatest potential." Adena Sampson Courage to Thrive

Our path to resilience is often covered in obstacles, stress and strain. One of the biggest obstacles is our own brain and nervous system.

The more challenges we take on, struggle with and conquer, the more resilient we become.

Ever tried a Mudder Race? Just when you think you've overcome an obstacle, you find yourself deep in mud or faced with a climbing wall as you look at your body covered in slimy mud.

Obstacles are a part of life. Some are overcome easily, like jumping over rocks/trees or gaps in the race course...while others seem impossible given our circumstance.

When the "impossible" obstacles arise, it can be easy to lose sight of our goals, our dreams, our worth, and our value.

However, recall learned experiences and training.

Have we faced this obstacle before or one similar? Can we apply a previous lesson learned to this new obstacle? Can we get creative and overcome the seemingly impossible?

The answer is YES. And this is RESILIENCE.

An experience that led to a learned behavior or thought process that prepares us to face the new challenge and overcome it.

Yoga For First Responders trains this on the mat. Using the protocol to mimic stress, learn to regulate the stress and reset ourselves... teaching ourselves to be resilient.

Face the new threat as challenge. Rewire your thinking (i.e. neuroplasticity). Train yourself to face the obstacles as a challenge, apply your learned experiences and overcome the challenge.

Maybe you have to wipe the mud off to prepare for the next obstacle.. maybe you have to figure out how to be successful with the mud still on you.

The more you do this, the more resilient you become... training your brain.

Not sure how to start? That's why we are here.
